Sound rules everything around us. As an architect, NicolasSowers has found that sound is one of the most overlooked aspects of design. He started his career exploring with microphone in hand the mosques of Istanbul and the maze-like cities of Morocco. His fascination with sound emerged from the experience of listening to these recordings, which produced a rich spatial experience that no photograph could capture. Sound carries an invisible power that Nicolas seeks to harness with his company Timbre Architecture & Sound.  We collaborate on new buildings and retrofits as well as wayfinding, exhibition and installation work. Timbre partners with developers, community stakeholders, business owners, artists, and architects to collectively imagine a healthier and more resonant built environment.
