Paulo Castillo is a Seattle based artist, photographer and storyteller. His zine Champagne Arcadestarted out as a solo retrospective that soon turned into a platform for local and international collaboration. It’s a slice of life, showcasing the vitality of the artists involved. His photos pull inspiration from childhood and the eight years he spent traveling and working in the Japanese animation industry. Animated movies have always been an interest of his. Having been drawn in by the surrealism unique to these types of films, Paulos work often references those dreamy Deja vu moments and familiarities that recur in this genre of animation. His photos have been featured Internationally and locally in Seattle but more recently at Trichomeand The Frye Art Museum in 2019.
