Vishal Reddy
Justice Catalyst Legal Fellow with Local Progress
Vishal is a Legal Fellow with Local Progress, a membership-based organization whose members are progressive local elected officials across the nation. His fellowship focuses on equipping Local Progress members in the South with the legal and policy support needed to build worker power and improve working conditions.
He grew up in Cleveland and went to UNC-Chapel Hill, where he developed a fierce faith in people-powered social movements. After college he returned to Cleveland, where he worked as an educator and later as a community organizer working with folks experiencing homelessness. He went to law school at NYU Law to be a "movement lawyer”— a lawyer who helps mass social movements build our world.
He took time off during school to work for Bernie Sanders and later for People’s Action to defeat Trump and elect down-ballot progressives. During law school, he worked on issues of workers’ rights, voting rights, housing justice, and prison abolition. After four years of living in New York, he is excited to have moved to Seattle this summer and experience the PNW.
