Enjoy: CAT TOWER @ MoM
CAT TOWER at MoM is single-handedly combatting the Seattle winter gloom. This group exhibit challenged a dozen local artists to craft their version of the most superior cat tower, adhering to Frank Crow’s (1968) required three traits:
1.) A clawing surface of maximum appeal to a cat
2.) A climbing structure of high appeal and good exercising
3.) A facility for playing, feeding, and sleeping
Each free-standing structure will be voted on by museum audiences and a very curious population of visiting cats. Get out and vote (and bring your cats on Sundays and Wednesdays)! MoM will donate $5k to a human or animal shelter of the winner’s choice.
CAT TOWER is on display at the Malone Gallery at MoM through May 1st, 2022. Learn more here.
Watch: Drive My Car
Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s “Drive My Car”, one of two 2021 films from the director, made history twice this week at the Academy Awards, receiving the most nominations ever for a Japanese film while also marking the first time a movie from the country has received a nomination for Best Picture.
Based off a Haruki Murakami short story, Drive My Car follows a stage actor and director, mourning the recent sudden loss of his wife, as he puts together a play for an out of town theater festival. A young woman, assigned by the festival, acts as his chauffeur, driving him around the city. Slowly, the two open up to one another by revealing secrets and sharing confessions from their past.
Available to see in person at SIFFand Ark Lodge Cinema in Seattle.
